The laboratory of Judit Villen in the Department of Genome Sciences at the University of Washington in Seattle is looking for motivated candidates to fill two postdoctoral openings.
The ideal candidates are expected to apply proteomic technologies to address challenging biological questions in a systems level. Projects in the lab range from proteomic technology development, to applications to understand fundamental cellular and organismal biology, to applications in disease; and include but are not limited to: analysis of protein phosphorylation to understand the organization and regulation of signaling networks in different cancer and metabolic cell types, quantitative analysis of the proteome to understand aging and degeneration, analysis of phosphorylation and drug rescue in a neurological disease model, and development of new technologies to study the effects of mutations on protein function.
Candidates should have recently or nearly completed their PhD, have a solid track record with at least one first author research publication in a peer-reviewed journal, and have a background in peptide or protein chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology and/or bioinformatics. Experience in mass spectrometry-based proteomics is a plus, but not required.
